-   -   How do I add form fields to "newthread" template (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=31363)

Here's what I'm trying to do....

I'm trying to add another form field to the "newthread" template, the form field is called "vofprog". I've figured out how to add it just fine:

Code:

<td bgcolor="#DFDFDF"><font face="verdana, arial, helvetica" size="2" ><b>Version Of Program: </b></font></td>
<td bgcolor="#DFDFDF"><font face="verdana, arial, helvetica" size="2" ><input type="text" class="bginput" name=">vofprog" value="$vofprog" size="70" maxlength="85" tabindex="1"></font></td>

Now, I go over to the "postbit" template, and input this right above the $post[message] variable:

Code:

<td bgcolor="$post[backcolor]" width="100%" valign="top">
        <smallfont>$post[icon] <b>$post[title]</b></smallfont>
                <p><normalfont>$post[vofprog]</normalfont></p>
        <p><normalfont>$post[message]</normalfont></p>

                $post[attachment]
        <p>$post[signature]</p>
        <p>$post[editedby]</p>
        <p align="right"><smallfont><a href="report.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&postid=$post[postid]">Report this post to a moderator</a> | $post[iplogged]</smallfont></p>
        </td>

But for some reason, when I make a new thread, type my subject, my message and some text in the new form field, then click submit, it won't input the "vofprog" form result right above the message, any idea why?

You'll need to add a new field to the thread table, then hack the code so it updates that field.

Also enter your licesne information in your profile.

Anyone got an example of this eg. a checklist of which templates/php to actually update. We want to have a 1 char flag in newthread so we can highlight them differently in forumdisplay (eg top stories)

This thread is almost 3 years old now. Please start a new thread if you wish to pursue the issue :) Thanks
