Reason for locking

I'm looking for a way to have the option to state why a topic is being locked and for it to be publicly listed in the topic on the top.

Edit the post?

Use thread prefixes and with html code you can add colour its what I use you can also set them so only what group you want to use can have access to them

Of course, but then it's only visible on that page.

But if the reason is long, I don't want to have any prefixes stretching the page.

The member does not need a reason why the post has been closed/locked

Does it really matter here? If one wants to give a reason, then that's up to them.

I quickly searched the modifications on vBulletin.org, with no luck, but this is something you should do yourself to be thorough -- if you have not already. :) Both responses were reasonable and great suggestions, since you did ask for an "option" and this was not a programming question. :)

Well, you did ask for an option in your first post I gave you a way to do it and it's the best way that I can see the only other way you could go is post in paid section and pay someone to code something for you but I don't see a point doing that when my first way is the best

Well, Elixar didn't exactly ask for options, he asked for a mod that gives the option of providing a reason (i.e. it's not required). And this is the unpaid request forum, so it's the right place to ask someone else to code it.

Thanks @KH99, I thought he was in the discussion forum myself. Thanks for the correction. :) I may have lead @Force down the wrong road with my post.

@Elixer - Sincerest apologies. My replies are based on the forum where the thread is posted. I thought you posted your question in the 'discussion' forum. As @KH99 correctly pointed out your question was a valid question for this area of the board. My statement above did not reflect that and now looking back seems a bit harsh in it's tone. In this case my blunder carried down into the thread; where my response lead the tone for others (I think). I believe in correcting and apologizing for my mistakes and this one is definitely on me. Sorry bud! :)
