Where'd the Email New Threads option go?
 

Greetings,

I'm relatively new to vB5 though I am very familiar with and used vB3.x and vB4.x for years.

I'm looking for the feature in vB5 that was in vB4.x that allowed administrators to send email notifications to specific users when a thread is created in specific forums.

I see I can do this by granting users mod access to the forum and through a checkbox from there, but I want to be able to do this without necessarily giving those users mod. This option isn't going to work for me.

This option used to be under Forum Options but now under Channels, they have such limited options and this option simply isn't one of them.

I did some searching around both on here and on vb.com as well as other internet resources and the answer doesn't seem to be forthcoming. I'm hoping someone here can help me with this.

As far as i know, there isnt an option for you to do this in vB5, it was removed (No, I have no clue as to why).

However, I believe a user can subscribe to a forum, which will alert them to new posts in it, though I dont know if there is an e-mail option.

Is there a hack of any sort? Gah, I might need to downgrade to a version of 4.x just to get this functionality back.

I have not seen such a mod yet made.
