Module that goes through image links and turns them into attachments
 

Hi,
I'm wondering if something like this exists. Maybe as a product, script, cron task, or whatever else there is.

My forum has a bunch of images linked externally.
Ie: [img)www.website.com/image.jpg[img)

I want to make all of these image local to my website so that if someone else links to the image, it uses my website as the path.
I figure the easiest way is to save the linked images links as attachments.
There are too many images to do this manually.

Is there a way to automate this? I do not mind the space requirements of having a lot of attachments.

Or some way of altering the link so that when someone right clicks and views the address, it always lists my domain, but then when they visit the url it redirects to the image link?
