vBulletin Database Error!

Recently I receive thousands of spam attacks which leads to thousands of emails like this:

How to block the spam and prevent such a problem?

Thanks

this is a server issue. if you are on a shared host you are most likely not going to be able to fix this without trying to limit resource usage on your site. If you have access though you need to increase the max_connections in your my.cnf file. You can only do this if you have root access.

Increase max_connections will increase the resource consumption. Since I know this problem is caused from spam attacks, can I solve the problem without increasing max_connections? Thanks

Since you have to block the spammers before they even reach your server, it's kind of pointless to install an anti-spam plugin. You can take a look at Cloudflare though, maybe they can help you out.

Your server and site should be able to take spam but if you are talking about a ddos attack that is something entirely different.

Check your server security logs and ban those ips attacking your ftp and ssh ports.. better still change to a different port and allow only your own ip access. I would need to know more to better aid you but as dave said, a plug in is not going to decrease resource usage from spam.

You may able to add something to your htaccess that would help though but again, need more detail.
