KKR to buy Internet Brands for $1.1 billion

I'm surprised nobody posted this..

Seeing that's the parent company of GoDaddy, I wonder what this means for vBulletin? I hope they don't screw things up more for vB.

Yeah, a statement from IB (Vbulletin) would be nice on what is going to happen, now that we going to be throw into the mess of goDaddy.

Like to know a bit in advance incase it might be better to jump ship now to another 'forum' software.

This is a high level change of parent company, the official statements states ;

Quote:

Internet Brands' chief executive, Bob Brisco, and its management team will hold a minority stake and continue to run the company

So I dont really see that anything will change on a day to day basis.

Paul, you've been around long enough to know...

Did the same statement get made when IB first purchased vbulletin?

And how long did that statement hold true before there were changes?

I'm asking because one of the companies I worked for was purchased with the same statement being made. Within 2 years after the purchase, just about everybody was gone from the original company and the people that held similar jobs at the new company took over the positions from the old company.

This isnt the same as when IB purchased Jelsoft, they became the direct controllers ov vB.

This is like the parent parent company.
It last changed in 2010, and nothing changed with IB/VB as a result.

Of course, no one can predict what will happen in two years time, whether it be related to this or not. :)

Bob Brisco posted about on his blog:

Probably based on this movement the new vbseo leaders are thinking to reopen their business.
I can't see any good thing in doing this after so many customers who left that ship.
I don't think also that this move will revitalize vbulletin.com
Make a comparison between 2011/2012 and 2014 traffic on vbulletin.com or even vbulletin.org and you'll get the numbers about how many customers packed their bags.
IB going to KKR is only a move to fulfill the pockets of board members. Nothing more.

The only real change since the purchase is we finally got in touch with the powers-that-be at Go Daddy and can now confirm Go Daddy Deluxe Linux or Windows hosting is now capable of running a basic vBulletin forum, though I would personally chose Linux over Windows given the choice.

Previously we could not get VB to run reliably on any Go Daddy shared hosting.

Don't worry. I will soon be bidding 1.2 billion. Once i get ownership I will be letting BOP, Lynn, Paul and others from here run it. :)

BOP - I know all about those Godaddy problems. I ran into them most when installing vbulletin, plug ins, etc. It is great that they finally are working that out.

I too had GoDaddy problems but have recently had great luck with their shared Linux hosting and have gotten excellent tech support. Hope they keep improving because I really like them and have had great service with my other non-forum websites for about 8 years.
