Editor Issues

Hey folks, question for you.

For some reason, people on my site are having trouble editing their posts. When they click the edit button, they do not see the text they previously typed. All they see is a blank text box. I disabled hooks, same problem. I also combed through various vBcode to see if a font was causing the issue, no dice. It also does not seem to be browser specific, because I've been able to replicate the issue on Chrome, Firefox, Opera & Internet Explorer. I didn't add anything new to the site recently.

Any known fixes?

Has the host changed anything relating to php version?

tbworld 05-07-2014 07:34 PM

What version of vBulletin?
What version of PHP? (@DemOnstar - good suggestion)
Rebuild styles from the admincp.

Disable Hooks/plugins.
Check for JavaScript errors in your browser.

Report back :)

vB= 4.2.0
PHP= 5.4.27

Styles rebuilt, hooks turned off, and browser checked.

Still having the issue :(

Upgrade to 4.2.2

Yep, you will need to upgrade to 4.2.2 if you are going to be on a server running PHP5.4.

I just started having this problem a few days ago so I upgraded and now it's resolved for the forum. However, I'm having this same problem with a blank textarea in a file manager I built for the admin CP. What has changed in PHP 5.4 that would cause this?

Zachery 08-03-2014 08:28 PM

Did you upgrade to 4.2.2?

Yes. And the forum itself works fine, my problem is with my custom file manager product. I know that's not your business but I'm wondering what general problem with php 5.4 do I have to deal with? What's changed?

So I'm asking a PHP question, not a vBulletin question

I'd suggest you check your error_logs (if you don't know where they are, ask your host) to see what the exact php problem is.
