Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, and Twitter launch WebScaleSQL, a custom version of MySQL

I was reading this today and i think it is very interesting https://code.facebook.com/posts/1474...ysql-upstream/

Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, and Twitter today announced WebScaleSQL, a collaborative project bringing the engineers from these companies together to solve challenges working with massive databases. As its name suggests, WebScaleSQL is a custom version of MySQL designed for large scale Web companies.

Will it work with VB ? If not, will Vb support it for a better performance ?

If it is coded as a drop-in replacement for MySQL, like MariaDB is, then it will work.

If t is not compatible with the MySQL queries VB uses then it is much less likely there will be support anytime soon.

I hope VB dev team look into it, i mean you're getting the best tech from giant companies, so it is a guaranteed good performance for large Database.

I always think for VB as a company to always think big and push forward with innovation and big features. In this competitive market, those who push forward thinking bigger and better, will have a better chance at expending better and faster.

I don't think there is anything specific to webscale that helps vBulletin right now.

Most of the changes I saw were for clustering/replication support. Which means that most our customers wouldn't be using it.

My personal opinion, is that if we were to look into other RDBMS' we'd look into PGSQL, and then MSSQL.
