Sidebar on all forum pages - ESB Obsolete Now?

Is there anything currently supported that can add sidebar to all pages?

Why does it matter if it has, or hasn't been updated?

Are there bugs with it?
Are there security issues you know about?
Why wouldn't you use it if it works?
