Preventing members names from showing in About Me
 

I added two custom profile field upon registration. One for the users first name and the other for the user's last name.

I made them required and hidden.

But when you go to their profile, the About Me tab shows their names, and I want them hidden. How do I fix this please!!

Here is the settings screen:

Are all your usegroups allowed to see private fields?
Check your usegroups permissions.
You may be seeing it because you are in the admin usergroup.

Others outside admins can see the names also. What setting do I need to change?

Did you check all usergroups to see if they can View Private Fields and only allow select usergroups to be allowed to View Private Fields?

I have been chatting via pm with another member who is having this issue in 4.2 as well.

Yes...I did check that...settings are correct but they can still view them....
