Domain masking using htaccess
 

I still am not so good with htaccess so I am not sure if this is even possible.

Say I want to forward blahblah.ouch to blahblah.com but I want it to still appear as being on the blahblah.ouch domain.

Is this possible and what would I do with htacces to accomplish this?

I do that in my domain manager, forwarding with masking option.

I thought Godaddy had that but it did not work that way for me. When I tried it it showed the masked metatags but the domain still switched. I have to check and see if maybe there is something already in the htaccess that is interfering.

The masking is supposed to keep the original domain showing? Right?

Yep that's how it's always worked for me.

Ok, I thought so. That was the first thing I tried. Either there is something in the current htaccess stopping it or maybe godaddy is taking awhile to make the full change.

Sometimes it takes quite awhile for the change to propagate.

I just thought it was done because the change shows at godaddy and I already see the tags. Will wait awhile though and see what happens.

I would still like to learn how to do it with htaccess as well seeing as one of my goals for 2014 is to get better with htaccess but for now if this works than that is great.

I'm pretty sure I have seen that code for .htaccess but can't remember details of it or exactly where I saw it.

The godaddy masking is working now. It took a long time. Normally minor domain changes are pretty quick with them.

Can be up to 48 hours for total propagation.
