VB.com posts
Would it be improper to post issues to VB.org that have not been resolved at VB.com? Would I get on their "bad side"?
|
Not necessarily, there is alot of people that post on here as well as on there.
But do keep in mind, this is a site for vBulletin modifications, not necessarily a site to support the product. Some of the staff on here is also staff at vB.com. |
Thanks Ozzy,
Just to clairfy, when I say "issues to VB.org that have not been resolved at VB.com", I mean "the same issues" that have already been posted at VB.com. I am beginning to find out that VB5 versions are more of a beta product with a lot of key issues that have gone unresolved for months. And I am now seeing why a lot of big established VB websites are still with the older versions. I am completely new to VB and it is tough enough learning a new program without having to deal with all the headaches of a beta program. I installed VB 4.2 a year ago on an existing Godaddy Linux server and never got around to learning it. To make it easier to learn, I reinstalled VB 505 and gave Godaddy $360.00 additional for a new cPanel hosting plan. And now I am seeing all these major bugs in VB5. I am wondering if I should just go back to 4.2.2. Thanks again |
My personal opinion is stick with vB4 for now, till vB5 grows a bit more. There is still alot missing from it, and there is very few working mods for it.
I purchased vB5 when it was first released, I was like the 95th person to get it, so I support it, but just not ready to make the switch yet. When vB4 came out, I waited almost 2 years before I upgraded my site to it from the vB3 series. |

As to which version, personally I would do the same as Ozzy states, and go with 4.2.2. |
Thank you all so much!
