Anyone Happy with VB 5.0?

Im running 4.2.2 and have over 50K members, Im scard to upgrade, who is liking 5.0? And what issues do you have? What do you like?

Have heard nothing but bad reviews from my friends who are running 5.0 which is why I have never even fathomed upgrading from 4.2

I had to upgrade from 3.8 and decided to go for 5.0. Couldnt retrieve anything from the past database, so had to start a new forum. The forum did badly compared to 3.6, no new members signed up, if they did they didnt post. Forum was dead. Couple of months later, decided to downgrade to 4.2.2 and its slowly picking up again.

Shoot it's not my needle and unfortunately vB5's needle has been broken since day one.

I've stuck with 4.2.2 and I tell my clients to do the same. My main concern is the loss of mods and the amount of work involved customizing things. I am not familiar with it enough to know of many bugs or problems but I have also read many negative reviews.

You upgraded and lost your data in the process? This does not sound like a common issue or at least it is not one I have heard before from just running an upgrade.

As for starting a new forum it is not surprising that you would lose traffic, etc. The hardest part is getting started but I doubt this had anything to do with what version of Vbulletin you were using.

The data isnt "lost" I still have the mySQL database, but for some reason I couldnt connect vb5 to that database, and I went through a few different issues with vB support, eventually I decided to start a new database.

When vb5 was installed I sent out an email to every member that was registered on the forum, and although the regulars signed up, they didnt want to post. Forum was pretty much dead for a couple of months. I then decided to downgrade to 4.2.2 and fresh install again, sent out another email, and have have more registrations and posts on the forum.
