Automatic BB Code
 

I've seen this on a few forums, staff members have their own bbcode that will allow their posts to look different from others. I'll add a picture below to show what I mean. I've gotten the bbcode replacement and currently the staff members are forced to type out the bbcode every time they wish to use it. I would love to find a way for them to just be able to post and the bbcode automatically be displayed in their posts.

Do you want a bbcode to appear automatically in the text box, or do you want the default text color to be set by usergroup?

Basically, when I post something like: "Hey, how are you"

It would post as that, but it would automatically add the BBcode and make it "[admin1]Hey, how are you[/admin1]

My sense is that this would be easier to do by using a conditional based on the poster's usergroup to change a css class within the postbit template.

There are a few different bbcodes here that with a lil editing can do what you want. You would also have to set permissions on these bbcodes so only staff can use them.

Search above for admin staff bbcode, all mods, title only (Most bbcodes pre 3.8 will work with 3.8)
If you are willing to do some editing, you can achieve what you are after.

I need help with the code for it, I have no clue what template or what code to edit..

Did you search for and find one that you liked?
All bbcode mods come with a readme... follow the instructions on how to install it.
There will be no template to edit to add a bbcode.
