The vb Org Like System
So why is it set up like this:

Thanks... |
I just got:
"You must 'Like' someone else's post before liking any more by New Joe" Hear Hear. |
This is the problem, I don't want to be limited, if i like someones post I want to like them, a few time today I wanted to like a few members but got that silly message.
I also don't see the point in liking random posts which I don't really want to like just so I can like the other person I wanted to like,,,, |
Doh!

IIRC, that is because the Likes system on here, actually is adding to the reputation.
|
but was does the rep system do it does not give anyone extra permissions
|
Nope, it's just a status thing.
|
Yeah, I brought this up recently, too. I always thought that was kinda odd to have it limited that way. I could understand if our Like statuses were tallied and displayed in some way, but all we seem to get is a list of the last ten Likes received and given on our profile. Like's aren't used as form of status on any website I know of, so it feels a little counterintuitive to the premise to have it that way here.

Your total likes are shown when you click on the username. I don't know how you would use them as a form of status though. I guess you could have bars like you do for regular reputation.
