When i promote a thread to the CMS, how do i avoid duplicate content?
I do a lot of "Promote to article" threads and posts, where I'm practically copying them in vbCMS and making a duplicate content, right?
Please advise what should I do in this case in order to decrease the impact of duplicate content? Example of the recent article: vbCMS: http://www.svetsatova.com/forum/cont...1vila-sat.html Forum: http://www.svetsatova.com/forum/f99/...-sat-6056.html |
I just use robots.txt to block my cms category for promoted posts. Other than that I do not know of any way to get around this. I really do not think Google makes a big deal out of it though because it is duplicate content on your site. It shows up in webmaster tools but I do not think it impacts much if at all.
If you are worried though block the category with robots.txt and it will not be crawled. |
Ok. Maybe i'll use robots.txt. Can you share it (robots.txt) for me, plz?
Other, All contents at my vbCMS is promoted from the forums. I'll delete all code at vbcms_content_article_page. Can i do it? |
There are a couple ways you can do it. You can block a section or category.
If all your content is posted there from the forum than just block the entire cms by adding /content/ to your robots.txt file. What do you mean delete all your code? Not sure what you mean but that does not sound like something I would do. :) |

- I delete code at there to vbCMS don't show content at domain.com/content.php?id-url. (just link to promoted thread, example) |
Why don't you just turn off the cms then?
Are there other things on your cms page? |

That mod has not been touched in years I believe. You can set up cms to show previews of your posts using the cms settings. You do not need a mod.
