Ok, still no resolution after more than 10 weeks..
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....0&postcount=20

Let me try this...

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...1&d=1386822603

Why does this happen?
Where is the picture even though it is within the article?
I am sure that others must have seen this before.

Anyone got any idea?

Thanks..

And this is still ongoing...

That is typical if you don't have your Image Settings setup to create thumbnails. What do you have Settings > Image Settings set to? And does your server have GD >Freetype or Imagemagick installed (check your phpinfo page).

Oh dear me...

Thank you again Lynne..

I never thought that buying into this forum hobby would be so much pain..
So now I have to find something else to make it work?

When does it ever become easy?

OK, is there a guide somewhere that can help with the next episode? By that I mean the installation of imagemagick or GD?
I guess I have to download it yes?

Take a look at your admincp
admincp --> maintenance: View Phpinfo

Then look for a section called 'GD' or 'IMAGEMAGIC'. Most likely 'GD' is already installed via your host, some load both.

Code:

gd

  GD Support                    enabled
  GD Version bundled            (2.0.34 compatible)
  FreeType Support              enabled

Confirm that this setting is set to GD.
admincp-->setttings-->options-->Image Settings-->Image Processing Library: GD

Set to GD.

Server doesn't have ImageMagic. The closest I can find is Imagick.

'Imagick' is the php extension for 'ImageMagic'. Sorry, I should have checked before I posted the extension. :)

What are the results of Maintenance > Diagnostics > Upload ? It should list five settings there - what are they and what does it say underneath?

Did the test as you suggested...

file_uploads: On
open_basedir: None
safe_mode: Off
upload_tmp_dir: None
upload_max_filesize: 10.00 MB

No errors occurred while opening the uploaded file for reading.

________________
Not sure what to make of this. If it is successful, I still have the original problem of errors throughout rebuild attachment thumbs.

So can you tell me which is the best option to go for? GD or Imagick?

Aside..

I think the main problem may be related to user names not being added to the attachments.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...1&d=1386918339

As you can see, some attachments have a user name ID whilst others don't.

Boggling..

BTW, the 'Article Preview' issue has been cleared... Thanks..

The images that have no username.... are they valid? I mean, if you click to view them, do you see them and they really belong to someone?

snakes1100 12-13-2013 04:38 PM

imagemagick is the better option versus gd, if its not installed on the server by you or the host, then you need to either install it or get the host to, you can also define in your config.php the image size limits that imagemagick can auto resize for you and eliminate the issue of failed uploads in vbs junk uploader, as users only see the red ! mark, instead of a failed error for size.
