Sorry!

Slightly of topic, please don't yell I've got a headache my Grandson gave me with a flying Hotwheel .... they don't fly? That boy can make anything under 2 lbs fly like a rocket!

I'm going to bring up something I've noticed the last couple of months. It may not be anything of concern but I thought I would bring it up to see if anyone else noticed the same thing.

Folks with sometimes less 5 total posts in their history but are shown as having been registered for 3,4,5 or more years.

I understand all the reasons this could be so but I've just been noticing s lot of it lately.

So have I, it is one of two things, legitimate users that never posted, or someone dug out some old human spam accounts they made, and are testing the sites spam defenses.

Or it could be forum owners who now know a bit more about running a forum, and find here more useful than they first thought.

Or, could it be that when we sent out the mass-mailing to all our users asking them to change their passwords, they decided to finally post?

My mother tells this story every now and then but long story short I was 3yrs old I hit her in the back of the head so hard with one of the old-fashioned "more metal than plastic" hotwheels while she was driving, she ran off the road down a hill and crashed the car... I do not recall this naturally LOL but found it funny to see your post about hotwheels if I were you I'd stop by a Army/Navy surplus store and grab a helmet for those days you keep the grandkids .

I still have all my issue from the Army so, I have a kevlar helmet. That boy is only 2 1/2 but he's got an arm like Nolan Ryan.

As far as the members I mentioned, it is the type of posts that concerns me. Some of the posts asking such easily solved problems. As though they just downloaded vb from one of the many sites offering cracked or nulled vb packages.

As I have mentioned before, my forum is more of a hobby to me than a way to make any money. I take pride in making it as presentable as is possible. I also value the relationships I've made with a lot of you guys and gals.

Being disabled has changed me from an very active full speed ahead type person to one that has different values in life. I was a first Sgt in the military, I was gung ho to the bone!

So as I hope you can see, I take anything I do very seriously. I just worry about any members that are here with bad intentions.

Maybe I just need to quit worrying about it? Nope, I would just be fooling myself about how I really feel.

I was registered for about two or three years, I think, before I asked my first vB related question. But then, I was not the admin at the time. I was an intern for the company that eventually turned over the site to me. So I really only came around to download stuff or look up answers I had. I was also registered here before I knew about the Licenced User restriction, and it was a few days/weeks before I was added by the admins to their account. Wouldn't surprise me if people register here a lot thinking this is the main vB site, and it be a few years before they actually purchase the script.

How can you tell if someone purchased vb or not?

ozzy47 12-05-2013 02:05 AM

Users can't, but mods and admins can. :)

In addition if the post is anywhere outside the Lounge, Feedback, or Pre-Sales forum they must have a confirmed license to post in those areas.
