Test Site

I have finally managed to set up a test site. It works........

Only thing is that most of the links in the test site refer to the original site.
Is this change done manually for each link or is there some kind of cute operation that can be performed to address this conundrum?

Thanks all..

Go to ACP > Replacement Variables Manager That should help you out ;)

Cheers Dave, you put me onto something I have never seen before..
I tried it out, not much luck yet..

The links of the now test site have all been put in by myself and point to the original site..

Example..https://www.example.com

Now I need them to point to
https://www.example.com/folder/folder/test site

What do I need to replace here?

Have you changed your forum url on your test site?

DemOnstar 12-03-2013 03:16 PM

Yes, I did that...

Not to worry too much, I just have to remember not to click on the embedded links when on the test site.. All else should be ok..

Cheers fella...........

You are talking about links in the posts? Replacement Variables should take care of those if you set it up correctly.

Yep thanks... Links in posts...

Not sure how to set it up, tried various ways, shall try again later...

Whatever your main directory path is, have the Variable Replacement Manager replace it with the test URL path:
Search for Text: domain.com/forums

Replace with Text: domain.com/testvb
Or whatever is applicable in your case.

Well, I managed to get the right address eventually but the page opens up with no css...
Ha ha, this forum business has turned out to be a real pain..

Ultimately I will pay someone to do this as I am having not such a good time...
Trying to setup paypal is also proving to be a bit of a chore...

Cheers people...
