How to make thread starter only see contents

Hello,

I am making a section in the forum (vb 3.8.7), where members will have their own secret thread. Others members should not see the content of the forum.

How to set permission for this? or Is there any MOD available?

Appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks

You can setup the following Permissions:
Can Reply to Others' Threads : No
Can View Others' Threads : No

Dont see the point in this. If a user makes a post and no one can see it what is the point in making the post in the first place after all making a post so others can see it is the point in making a post in the first place

I have this setup on a client's website. Users can submit their child's medical information which posts to a thread in a section under their username. They can then add information or the admins can request info in the thread, and the information remains private. They can always access the thread again if they need to update the information. So I have one unique URL that members can all go to where they'll only see their content.

I have a section like this that is used for administrative issues, complaints, and member issue resolution. It allows all of the staff to observe the discussion, but keeps the thread private from other members. This, IMHO, works better than PM for this type of member/staff interaction.

So if medical info posts to a thread and the admins can see this info hows it private? And why not put a tab in members profile that only they can see would that not do the same thing this way only they can see it.

Because all the admins are staff. Submitting the form requires consent to let the clinic's staff see the submitted form. Which would be the point of the form. It's a very long form, created using Easy Forms, with detailed medical information and the ability to attach additional documents. Not really practical as a member profile tab. Not to mention being a thread, you can do all those things that threads do, such as delete them, edit them, print them, email them, merge them, sort them alphabetically or by post date, etc., all from within the thread. And I have one URL that points to that section, domain.com/forms, and every form you've submitted can be found in one place. For both the parent and the staff.

Thanks to all.

But this shows the forum as Empty if someone is not having a thread.

Is it not possible to display the Thread titles in Forum display (without showing the contents inside) for those who doesn't have a thread.

I believe you would be able to do this with Can View Thread Content and Can View Others' Threads. You might have to toggle the settings to get the desired results.
