Registration Redirect

Hello,

I'm trying to put in place a redirect so that when users click on the register button, it takes them to our contact us page. Then after they've written to us explaining why they want to register, we will send them the link to the registration page.
I've been trying to find how to implement this on this forum and have only managed to find the following two threads:

Would appreciate if you can please point me to the correct thread if it exists, or if you could please let me know how to do this?

Is this done to inhibit spammers? As a human verification measure? News flash - autospam programs know where your register form is, and will bypass any redirects.
