How to ban someone who changes IP addreses?

Hi guys,

How do you go about banning someone who can easily change their IP address?

Thanks.

Their IP may change daily, or hourly, if they have a dynamic IP

So you would be banning quite a few legitimate users.

There is only so much you can do. You can ban a block of addresses, you can ban proxies, you can ban users, you can ban by email, you can ban by user agent, the most sophisticated ban techniques ban by a back trace algorithm. Of course not all these features are available in vbulletin.

If you have to you can ban an IP range by using an IP ban on xxx.yyy.zzz. (leaving the final part of the IP range blank). This can have the unfortunate effect of banning all users who connect via a particular ISP, so it's a bit of a last resort.

My point is sometimes you cannot, unfortunately.

Use Paul's Miserable Users mod, this will work a treat.

That 'mod' will not solve his problem, but it is a nice piece of work.

Sorry, if my reply sounded a bit negative. It was still a good mod to suggest and might help other people reading the thread. Take care buddy. :)
