Oops

I'm supposed to take a backup once a week on Fridays, and I haven't taken a backup since Sunday, October 13, which is when we upgraded to 4.2.2.

Not that anything happened, just sharing that little tidbit.

Seriously? Take a backup and move along. #nobodycares

It was posted with love & I just don't think it was new thread worthy. I bet 95% of the people here haven't backed up in the past month.

I think this is good just to get people's attention and make them think "Hey, I haven't taken a backup lately either - maybe I should!!!!" I see so many tickets where users have done something to their site and the most recent backup was several months ago. That is a lot of users and posts to lose if you need to go back to a database backup.

Backup your databases people!!!!

I just thought the "#nobodycares" part was a bit harsh, other than that no harm done. :)

My other admin has it all figured out. He has a timed script on the server that copies the entire database every 24 hours and another script on his computer that automatically does the backup from the copy a few minutes later. He keeps backups for only so long before automatically deleting them so his computer doesn't get overloaded.

We've never lost anything but if we did it couldn't be more than 24 hours worth.

Lol.

But honestly, you should never underestimate the importance of doing regular server/database backups. Kinda funny thread, but the OP has made an important point I think: Don't let the "Oops" happen to you :p
