New Post / Mark as read not working
 

I need some help, my forum just started acting odd. Some members can experience the forum just fine and some are not. This is occurring on all browsers and the problem seems to fix its self for awhile for some members then break again...

How to recreate,

1. Click on New Post
2. Click on mark as read
3. Click on New Post and the same threads come back up over and over. On the right side of the screen you can see its the same search being run over and over. The screen shows the search performed 21 minutes ago or however long it was since you cleared cookies and history. this is just a repeating loop.

What I have done...

I've tried the forum using Cookies and DB managed...

I had a seasoned developer looking at it but we couldn't come to an agreement on money to fix it so here I am now...

Im open to suggestions

Which mark read system are you using, and you know search results are cached for a bit, at least an hour.

Hey Zachery, thanks for the response... If I understand your question correctly I would say that we are currently using the DB sessions, I have tried cookies but I get the same response... I have never had this type problem in the past, it just popped up one day last week and is wreaking havoc... The problem comes and goes, some are affected at different times, doesnt matter what browser.. its crazy behavior..

It has nothing to do with sessions, it's database or cookies. See

Settings > Options > General settings > Thread/Forum Read Marking Type

Thanks Nerbert, I've tried both... I've cleared the Cache of the server, optimized the DB and nothing has fixed it.. Like I said it comes and goes...

Here is what is says in the top right of the results screen..

Search took 0.03 seconds; generated 12 minute(s) ago.

So I clicked new post and received 3 pages of results. I clicked the mark as read and then clicked the new post button again, normally a user would get a message that there were no new post... Right now I get the same list of result but a message that also says

The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts.

You're still getting the search results cache.

How do I stop that?
