Export to another forum?

VB5, and the lack of support from the supposed support team, has me wanting to abandon ship.

Is there other forum software out there that can import from VB5?

ozzy47 10-01-2013 09:42 AM

Lack of support where, here or on the vb.com site?

Rand al'Thor 10-01-2013 03:26 PM

The vb.com site and their support tickets.

I feel the same and have asked for a refund! They should support basic install for software and upgrades!

ozzy47 10-01-2013 03:42 PM

Why would you offer basic install and upgrade service for nothing? If a end user has no idea on what he is doing, and messes something up, he will of course blame the install process.

It is very simple, load the files after you create the database, enter that info in the config file, then start the install / upgrade process. Every site owner should know how to to do this in order to stay on top of updates that may be there for security reasons.

If vBulletin offered basic install / upgrade service, and there was a security update, it would take forever to get to all the sites, thus making your site sit around longer with a exploit in it.

If this was true it would not be offered as a paid service by vBulletin. Other similar programs offer install for program and updates as part of their purchase.

You cannot even fix 5.0.5 upgrade lost of admin account and password
Which should have never happen with the upgrade!

Do you see any board of the month that uses vBulletin 5.0.5?

Why is this?
I would think boards using the newest release should be their.

ozzy47 10-01-2013 04:02 PM

No it would be offered as a paid service as the amount of sites to deal with versus it being free would be significantly lower. If it was to be included in the purchase of the software, the price would probably increase significantly.

I gave you all the steps to fix the admin password issue. Did you pay vBulletin to do the upgrade or a member?

No I don't see any board of the month sites running v5.0.5 ATM, probably because they are waiting for the software to stabilize before making the switch.

There is still sites running v3.6.x cause they like it better than vb4.x and v5.x, it is all up to the owners taste and comfortable feeling if they want to run the latest version.

No I did not pay vBulletin I paid KoolDesignmaker.
I followed your steps and they do not work for admin control panel access

Rand al'Thor 10-01-2013 07:28 PM

ozzy, I'm not incompetent.

They had an option listed that supposedly worked for lighttpd--it didn't.

They said they support nginx starting with 5.0.4, so I tried nginx and they couldn't help.

I switched to Apache--again, no help.

The site works fine except for AJAX requests, which return 500 errors. They won't support PHP 5.5, apparently.

Robert, did they issue you a refund?

The software NEVER under normal conditions removes, or breaks user access to their own accounts. I've responded to your ticket, if you follow up I can help.

I'm only aware of some minor issues with PHP 5.5 regarding regex's but it shouldn't impact normal operation. I followed up with the ticket I saw on file with you. Please follow up so we can move forward.
