Automatic news poster

I am looking for a mod which posts news items from big newspaper sites when the news item complies with the target words i give. I know it was in Vbulletin 3, but dont know its name and also dont know if it is there for vB4

I don't know if there are any mods like that, but if the newspaper sites have an RSS feed, you can use the RSS Feed Manager (in the admin cp) to set it up so feeds will be posted to threads.

Thank you, let me check that out :)

Don't do that. I added automatic news updates to my forum in 2011 and Google slapped me with a penalty in their search results. I had to stop posting the RSS feeds and file a reconsideration request, explaining what I had done and promising not to do it again.

OR, if you do add the feeds, post them in a forum that you block search engines from crawling with robots.txt.

Did you do this as a standard RSS feed or did you strip the headers? I would think Google would know the difference by reading the stream. If they do not, well then that is interesting.

I used the RSS feed dashboard in VBulletin. No extra coding.

Google analyzes the text on the page. However, the penalty I received was due to a manual review. I have no idea of what brought that on. Probably something in their system flagged the RSS-driven posts as worth looking at.

All I did was disable the feeds and file the reconsideration request, explaining what I had done (before and after) and they lifted the penalty immediately.

Interesting... Thank you for taking the time to explain. I have been researching this for awhile so the additional data is helpful.

Thanks Again.
