How to uninstall DBTech lite version add-ons/mods

Hello.

After this crazy hack-athon that's been going on, I had to pay to get my site back on track. I don't trust the lite versions of the following DBTech mods/add-ons.

DBTech - InfoPanels +
DBTech - AJAX Threads +
DBTech - Forum Tabs +
DBTech - Live Feed +
DBTech - vBActivity +
DBTech - User Tagging +
DBTech - Registration +
DBTech - Custom Nav +
DBTech -vBNavTabs 4.2 +

Funnily enough, my hosting provider couldn't figure out how to remove them.

Please let me know how this is done.

Thanks very much in advance.

  • Locate those modifications on here, see the mods tab up top right? Click it then use search and find them.
  • Once you find them download each one.
  • Now extract the .zips on your pc, what files are there? As you now guessed it yes, those are the files you originally uploaded and to remove you need to delete those same files from your server.
  • Don't forget to go into the product manager and uninstall the actual products as well.
  • If something goes wrong, it's more than likely due to the fact you removed the product but didn't delete the files so ensure you remove each mod one-by-one and be thorough.

I don't believe your site was compromised via one of the modifications above, DB Tech is usually on top of their modification in regards to security from what I've noticed. It is possible though but overall I believe it was related to your /install/ directory still being present.

I didn't install them. This was another request. Damn.

re the install directory, I quadruple checked and it wasn't present. My web hosting site installed everything and they assured me it was axed immediately after installation.

Thanks for the heads up, TLS. You've been great!

Hey, dude.

I just got some different advice from a dude at DBTech.

You can remove all of these mods and any DBT mod for that matter the same as you would for any mod. In the products manager of your ACP = Uninstall.

Then you remove the files via FTP. Never remove the files first. If this has been done you will need to re-upload the files and then uninstall.

This option seems a lot easier, but seeing it's so different from yours it's got me spinning out a bit.

What's your advice, sir?

That's the same thing I said pretty much :p.
  • You uninstall the modifications (product manager).
  • You remove the files.

I said to download them all from here i.e. the lite versions because if you do not, how do you know which files to remove? All the files are included in the modificaitons .zip file ;).

I suck.

I think that's become official.

Just these ones in the FTP, right?

Just right click delete and it's done? Given that I suck, I wanna be 100% sure. :erm:

Amazingly, I managed to do it myself. Pretty simple, really.

Thanks for the offer though seriously.
