Upgraded to 4.2 and now I can't access any threads

I upgraded from 4.02 to 4.2 and /forum/forum.php loads fine, but when I click on any sub-forum or thread I get a 404 :(

It's not a vB problem. It's probably some redirect setup somewhere in the history of the forum. I tried turning off the .htaccess but that doesn't seem to be doing the trick.

Any suggestions?

Check url settings

Link?

I had the Thank You Plugin that worked on 4.1.x; when I had this upgrade done errors from the Thank You kept the forum from working right in a similar manner that you describe. I had to remove the Plug In.

If you dont want it, uninstall it, but the the thank you hack works on 4.2, there are a few versions of it as well.

Thanks for your reply.

I didn't include it only because of this page getting indexed by search engines.

Sorry for the inconvenience: The domain is <deleted> (problem now solved)

ForceHSS, if the URL was incorrect the forum.php wouldn't resolve, would it?

Steve, I have no plugins but that's a good tip, thanks (though I do know of this working on 4.2 elsewhere).

Where did you upload the installation set?

to /public_html/forums or somewhere else? Just like into "/public_html" ?

How did the upgrade.php finish? With "complete"? It has to finish cleanly, in my case about 8 mins.

Thanks for your reply.

The problem is now solved.

The upgrade to vB 4.2 copied settings from the previous version except in the case of the friendly URLs. It went and did its own thing!

The default 4.2 setting in AdminCP > Settings > Options > Friendly URLs seems to be "Mod Rewrite Friendly URLs".

I don't need that because I've already taken care of much rewriting, canonicalisation etc., in htaccess.

Once I turned off that setting in Friendly URLs I could access forums and threads again.
