Image Handling other quirks

OK, so please forgive me if this is not the appropriate place.

I've been a long time user of Vbulletin, all versions.. We finally bit the bullet on a start up project and migrated our small forum from from Kunena.

The only thing I liked about Kunena is the fact you could have emoticons or smileys, whatever they are called here, that were defined, but not displayed. That seems easy enough. :showsomethinghere: Apparently that feature is not available on vb 4.2.1

The other observation that makes absolutely no sense to me, is the ability for a user to create Albums, and provide no mechanism to use those images in posts. Does it seem logical to have the ability to choose an image from your gallery when making a post, rather than uploading it again?

Is there a way or hack to get the actual image filename.jpg rather than the URL so you can actually post an image from a user gallery as an image?

All in all this seems really clunky.

I apologize if this is in the wrong area, once again, there are at least three sites we've had to sign up on in order to get the software purchased and installed.

There is no denying vbulletin is the top forum software, and we're glad we made the switch. There are just a few really odd things in the implementation that do not make any sense..

Also the reason there is a duplicate post, is because I edited the title, and it created a new thread instead of updating the current one, and there was no option to delete it myself.

Thanks in advance. Please move / delete if this in the wrong place.

Try this excellent mod for your images.

I am not quite sure I understand the "smilie" / "smiley" question. Are you looking for an option to not display the smiliey but to just show them in text mode?

Thank you very much for the information... I will check out the link.. Would make sense to write it correctly to begin with... or am I off base? I wonder what the intention was of the developers..

To your second question, I want to display the smiley with the text code, but not display them in the menu with the others..

Although I greatly prefer Cel's Photo Popup, you can open any album image and copy its reference as an attachment or as an IMG bb Code. Both are listed below the image.
