Block user from posting

I'm sure we've all made threads where a troll or troublemaker would come into it and start bashing people or the thread.

Is there a hack that would allow the thread starter to block these users from posting in the thread? I envision a 'block' link under each username, and if the OP clicks on it then that persons posts would be removed from the thread AND they could no longer see the thread or post in it. Maybe a variation of this.

Is there a hack like this? If not there should be. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for trying, but that's not even close to what we were asking for...

I don't think something like this exists, and it sounds like something that is really open to abuse if such power is given to normal users.

Mods would have full control over who could use these features. I know of a forum where something similar is used, and it actually helps the mods keep the trolls and spam in line.

To each his own, you wanted troll control i gave you troll control.

No, I did not ask for that type of a hack. I already have that hack.

I asked for something that the MEMBERS could use, not admins/mods. Read the original post again. But thanks for trying. Appreciate it.

Why can't the offended member just use the ignore feature?

Bubble #5 08-11-2013 10:22 PM

If you mean the Ignore List feature then that works the OPPOSITE way that is needed. Member A starts a thread. Member B starts to trash the thread. If member A puts member B on the ignore list, that does not keep member B from doing additional damage to member A's thread. Member B can still see member A's thread and can still trash it.

We're trying to prevent member B from causing additional damage, and clean up any damage that they started.

This one may do what you want. If user A has user B on their ignore list, user B can not reply in their threads, https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...ghlight=ignore
