Users getting PM notifications but INBOX is empty

Hi guys,

A few of my users are saying (and this happening with m too) that they received PM notifications through email but when they enter in the forum, theres nothing there, PM INBOX is empty or with old messages. Seems like it's a gradual problem that affects users at random.

Questions:
1. Is there any known cause of this?
2. Can I refresh or rebuild the notification counter somehow? Couldn't find anything relevant in AdminCP's Maintenance->Update Counters section.

Note: I didn't upgrade or installed any product/plugin recently, so I doubt that is a plugin conflict. This starts to happen since one week ago.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Best regards

When you go to the main page of the admincp, the one that shows the stats, what does it show for "Number of Queued E-Mails"?

Thank you for your reply kh99.

Number of Queued E-Mails: 11,998

A few weeks ago I sent a newsletter to all my 127.000 members with a very small value in the "Email to send at once" field. Could be this the reason?

That could be. You probably want to increase that at least until the queue is cleared (unless your host has a limit on emails you can send, then I'm not sure what to do).

Where can I increase?

The setting is Settings > Options > Email Options > Number of Emails to Send Per Batch. You might want to increase that until the queue is gone, then maybe decrease it and watch to make sure your queue is getting processed as needed. It might not matter if you leave it at a high value except that ideally you'd want the sending to be divided into smaller batches.

It seems that the "send email to users" function is confusing since it actually queues the emails (if you have the email options set to use the queue), so "email to send at once" doesn't make much sense.

Thank you once again!

Is possible to see how many users/emails still left to complete the newsletter that was sent?

Btw, what values do you suggest to change?

Thanks!

I think you'd just want to increase "Number of emails to send per batch". I don't know what an appropriate value would be. The emails get sent by scheduled task, which runs when users load a page, so I suppose if you were to set that value too high, the script might time out before it sends them all. But maybe try setting it to 100. The task runs every 10 minutes, so that's 600 per hour or 14400 per day, so that might clear your queue by tomorrow.

Thank you kh99, I think is solved now :)
