Questions about backing up
 
What exactly do i need to back up? is it just the sql database? or do i need to include the files within the forum directory?

I ask because I wanna know if vBulletin Cron Based Database Backup does the job. Meaning all i need is that and it backs up everything i need.

What's the process or restoring a forum?

You need to backup the database. You need to backup your files if you don't already keep a local copy of those (including the /includes/config.php file). And, if your avatars/attachments/etc are stored in the filesystem instead of the database, then you need to backup those directories also.
