Reply box toolbar issues

1 Attachment(s)
I've just installed a 4.2.1 test system in a 3.8.7 vBulletin installation. I'd copied the database from the 3.8.7 installation and tried to do a new installation, but the installer said I needed to do an upgrade, so I agreed to that during the install process.

It all went well, apart from the fact that all the buttons on the reply toolbar are blank. They go pale blue if I hover over them, and I can change fonts, make text italic, bold etc.

I have disabled the plugins/hooks in the Admin CP, and deleted all styles other than the default. The sprite.png file is in the images/editor folder.

Can anyone suggest what might be causing this problem, and what I can do to fix it?

Thanks.

Ann

Two things that might help...

1) Go to ACP->Settings->Options->Cookies and HTTP Header Options and set 'Force Latest IE Mode' to 'Yes'.

2) If your browser is running in compatibility view, turn that off.

Thanks. I changed the setting as suggested, but no difference.

Not sure about no. 2. I'm on a Mac and tried with both Chrome and Firefox, with the same results. I can't find anything in my settings about compatibility mode, or in Google about Mac and compatibility mode for browsers, and of course there's no IE for Macs.

Any further ideas? I've done a vB4 test system in the past (about 12 months ago) and had no difficulty. And no problems like this on my system with any other vB4 forums I visit.

Does anybody have some suggestions for this, other than to start again?

You can try reverting templates and stylevars. You will lose any customizing you have done though. Have you tried installing a clean new default style and checking if it has the same issue?

ACP -> Styles & Templates -> Add new style (link at bottom of boxes)

If that works, then you can try reverting the templates and stylevars on the other style(s). If it doesn't work you could always submit a ticket to customer support at vbulletin.com

ACP -> Styles & Templates -> yourstyle -> Revert all templates

Then

ACP -> Styles & Templates -> yourstyle -> Revert all stylevars

EDIT: Ok so you only have the default style ... I still suggest creating a new one and seeing what happens. IF that fails upload all of your image files again in binary mode.

Thanks for the suggestion, John. The only style is Default, which I haven't changed, and the problem has existed since I created the test system. I'll put in a ticket at vbulletin.com.

Thanks again.
