Why are there no really Kick ass styles for VB ?
 

I've been searching for a decent skin for my forum, but every one I find is too blocky, tabs are too big, navbars too wide, VB is a great platform, but the skins are just not fitting with it.

There are the odd ones out there that make you go "Wow" but not nearly enough,all too many just look like re-colours of the default !

I've always thought minerskinz put out some very nice styles

Why don't you help change that? Let's see what kindof skin you can churn out.:)

Well I've customised Breeze quite a bit, but I don't know CSS well enough to get rid of the description bar in the category headers, the bit below the silver lines ?

I have managed to do quite a bit, simply by replacing some of the images with my own

Settings > Options > Forum Listing Display Options > Show Forum Descriptions in Forum Listings

Sorry but that stops the forum descriptions displaying, not the descriptions in the Forum header bar.


The forum header bars an category header bars are made up of two graphics in the Breeze style, it has a background which is about 38px high, and a foreground which I have made at 26px high, it's the 38px background I want to get rid of.

I believe what you want to remove is the background image for forumhead_background.

Go to your ACP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> your style here -> Style Variable Editor

Then scroll down until you get to the Forums section, click on forumhead_background. On the right side delete the code in the Background Image (e.g., url(image.png)) box. Then click the save button.

Thats worked on the forum header, but not on the category headers, I've looked but cannot find the style var for that.
