Register new user vB user outside of vBulletin
 

We are working on a an update to our blog system (WordPress-based (which is PHP-based)) that sits beside our vBulletin forums. We use vB our vB user DB for authentication into an iOS app tied to our blog. We want to update our website (WP blog) to allow the creation / registration of vB users inside the environment of our blog -- without a visit to the vB forums.

We are running vB v3.4.1 right now but will be upgrading to latest 3.8.x before we go live with this new system.

Is this task something for the vB Data Manager I've been reading about, or...what is the drill, here. Can someone point me in the right direction? I am thinking there is more to it than generating the proper pwd hashes and inserting into the vb_user table.

Yes, if you can include vb's global.php in your script, then the best thing to do is to use the User data manager. It just involves creating the object, setting the fields, and calling save. Probably the best thing to do is to look at register.php or admincp/user.php (the $_POST['do'] == 'update' section) and see what they do.
