Change Advanced Search Tab

I updated my navbar template to add ?search_type=1 to the URL so that when people click on advanced search, it takes them to tab 1 instead of that odd 'multiple content type' search. That works great.

But, if users click on the bread crumb for search... it still takes them to the second tab. Is there anyway to fix this?
