Traling Slash at end of url

Few questions:

Question1.

http://www.example.com is equivalent to http://www.example.com/ but Google treat this different url . How to redirect http://www.example.com is equivalent to http://www.example.com/

Question2.
I want google to index only site home page, threads, pages, blog posts, articles posts etc but don't want to index members profiles, search results, tags etc.
How to do this?
