Define Img Alt tag on attachments

Is there a way to define the <img> alt tag for each attached image in vb? This returns thousands of SEO errors (along with not defining the size!)....

HTML Code:

example: <img src="smiley.gif" alt="Smiley face"> 



Example: <img src="http://www.mysite.com/content/attachments/5854d1362403344-week-10.jpg/" alt="Week #10 Sandwich">

It would seem as though this should be a built in functionality but does anyone know of a way to edit templates or code to incorporate this?
