How to add notification for new replies to vb 4.2.0?
 

I was looking at possibly using the vBSocial Notifications mod but it doesn't appear I'll be able to get it to work with my forum, so I just wanted to see if there is a way to add something that will notify users when people post in their threads (not subscription based notification) similar to how people are notified visiting the forum when they have a private message or with the mod I have that allows people to "thumbs up" certain content, they get notified on the forum.

I attached a screenshot of what I'm talking about. Basically I just would want people to get notified there that there have been "New topic replies" or something like that.

That's a pretty awesome idea. Some kind of AJAX method that has a running update of what's going on with your subscriptions in the sidebar (much like what Facebook currently does in the top left of the screen) would be pretty damn useful.

Yeah vbsocial has it with the social noficitations mod, but I'm having a tough time getting it to work. I had it working and now it takes forever for it to popup with the notifications/pms and the person's profile info doesn't show at all.
