Help with Email Link in Welcome Email
So I modified the Welcome email that people on my forum get when a moderator approves them in the moderation queue to tell the member that they have to post an introduction in a certain forum before they have full access and show them the link to it. But the html in the <a href> </a> link is not working properly when I do a test and review the email. This is what I want to do:
My phrase is: "Please note that most features on the site require you to post an introduction in the <a href="http://www.hobby-machinist.com/forumdisplay.php/14-NEW-MEMBER-INTRODUCTIONS-amp-WELCOMES">New Member Introductions & Welcomes</a> (the first forum from the top of the page) before they can be accessed. Access to the Downloads Library requires a minimum of 20 posts." What you get is: "Please note that most features on the site require you to post an introduction in the <a href="/forumdisplay.php"> New Member Introductions and Welcomes forum</a> (the first forum from the top of the page) before they can be accessed. Access to the Downloads Library requires a minimum of 20 posts." In other words, it doesn't show it as a link, but shows the original HTML instead. What is wrong with my <a href=""> </a> statement that is causing it to not work? Thanks!! Nelson |
vB sends out plain text emails not html.
What you need is: "Please note that most features on the site require you to post an introduction in the http://www.hobby-machinist.com/forum...S-amp-WELCOMES (the first forum from the top of the page) before they can be accessed. Access to the Downloads Library requires a minimum of 20 posts." You may find a mod that allows you to send html email. .Me |
Thanks, That's what I figured, but some stock phrases sent in emails by the system have links that contain <a href=""></a> and they work. I am stumped as to how they do it.

Hi Nelson,
Are you looking at the email msg source to come to that conclusion or can you show me a specific email vB sends out that you know has got html code in it like that? If there is i maybe able to look into this a little more for you. On another note, i noticed the url in your sig, i also run a machinist's forum, what will be a network of sites for machinist's actually. www.mycncuk.com .Me |
Maybe I misread system messages on the board for what is sent in email.
You have done a great job with your machinist site- it is a lot of work I know. There are some sites that have a lot of Brits on them, I will withhold opinion. Nelson |
Maybe this is what you're looking for:
