How to install Security Patches

Hi,
I have a VB 4.2.0 and i want to know how install the Security Patches

You just need to upload any files included in the patch to the appropriate folders.

i have downloaded Security patch: 4.2.0 Suite PL3
if we just need to upload the files only , then why there is install folder in this patch ?
can any one please help me ?

We would you not just update to 4.2.1 it's the most secure (after deleting the install folder)

When did you download and install 4.2.0 ?

Those PL releases are quite old (even PL3 is about 12 months old).
Once a PL is released, the fixes are automatically in the base files you download.

That is a good point. Maybe you're supposed to rerun install? (ETA: No you're not, see below). I can't remember why I thought that you only needed to upload files.

sir i have installed 4.2.0 Suite PL4 now , replaced the files , also uploaded the install folder , but i was unable to run/ execute it. Then i deleted the install folder,
every thing is working fine , i hope i have done it correctly.

anybody who have installed it , kindly confirm me.
