Long running script?
Need some help..
I have a couple members that are saying that they keep getting a message at the bottom of their browser that says something about a long-running script. They say it only happens on my forum (3.8.4), and that it also causes the forum to run really slow, or freeze. Now, I really dont know what to tell them. Is this a problem specifically with their browser/machine? I run Google Ads on my forum.. could that have something to do with it? I dont know what else it can be. Any help would be great, thanks! |
It's possibly no fault of your own or your forum. Typically this is an IE specific message that shows up when a script takes a certain amount of time to execute. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/175500
Another suggested fix: http://help.npr.org/npr/consumer/kbdetail.asp?kbid=501 You can have your users test these same pages in Chrome or Firefox (presuming that's not what they're already using) to see if the same problem occurs. |
Do you have anything with facebook on that forum?, i've found that sometimes that can be a real show stopper waiting for facebook elements. Ask your users to let you know if they see "waiting for....etc" at the bottom left of their browser page, it should give you some info on what the page is waiting for, facebook usually shows something like fb.static...etc

Ok thanks guys. No I dont have anything to do with facebook on the forum, just a couple Google Ads.
So basically it should be an issue on their end (the user), right? |
