Effects Of Forum Categories On Performance
 
Hello all,

I'm curious as to how great of an extent forum categories play on performance and load times. It's fairly straight forward that the "more stuff" the longer the wait, but I'd love to know the extent of this.

In particular, I had 12 contests this year in which I created new forum categories for. This probably won't have any additional posts to them and they'll probably hide under a subcategory of a subcategory out of sight unless a person digs.

Is there any performance benefit to getting rid of these somehow? I probably have 30+ forum categories which are nothing but old contests.

Any thoughts?
