hide subforum via php

Hi,
I tried to hide a certain forum by a mod, by mofiying the users permissions:

$vbulletin->userinfo['forumpermissions']['571'] = 0;

but it did not turned to work out. do you have any Idea how to do so? like globaly hide it, even for guests as long as the script is running?
