To promote and showcase premium vB themes
 

Hi,
I am not sure if we designers are allowed to promote or showcase premium vB themes here, all the forum scripts in fact not only forums most scripts in the market allow designers to showcase their free or premium themes in their official sites.

This should be allowed here, it will increase more exposure not only for designers even its good for vbulletin software itself and will sure attract many new users.

This is done to encourage designers, coders and contributors of your script and boost more productivity among them.

You can promote your services/products indirectly by uploading free styles, etc. The more people that are exposed to your free stuff the more people that will be exposed to your services/products.

Promoting or soliciting of any kind has never been allowed here.

Yeah i know its not allowed and i have been providing free themes for ages since 2005 i believe and my count of free themes is highest by any individual here so far!

But you must understand we contributors need to earn money to survive, pay bills, family expenses etc and not always provide free service...

It should be mix of both then only you can expect lot of contributions coming in and will attracts new players to vB.

What i point out here is good for vBulletin on the long run and its nothing new we are asking, its a usual thing so many software companies allow at their official sites.

Its not a law you cant change! If you really value your contributors, have some consideration or ignore...:rolleyes:

Who cares for you (us) my dear. Even if you provide 100 reasons that your request is right, they'll never allow it. vBulletin build and grows-up a myth for their clients. "Buy vB and with this price you'll get 100's of Free styles and Mods". That's the reason that most members are talking to coders/designers like they're obligue to release/support their work for free. "I paid for vBulletin. Why you're not offering support to your (Free) style/addon".

But don't worry. Time is changing. Let's see if vB5 will survive without styles/addons.

Yeah, that's quite an achievement. The problem is that, there are many scammers in this community & i know a theme designer personally who have scammed many people here. What will he do? he will create a new account, release a free theme & promote it through vb.org & will start scamming again. Since scammers are not banned here, there is nothing we can do to stop people from creating new accounts & hide their original identity.

Use your signature & footer links of your free themes to promote your service. That will be your best option IMO.

I agree 100% but scammers are not only here at vB.org they are all over the internet and this is not a valid reason not to provide a chance to paid works.

Clients and users will know whom to believe and not, who has been in the field for long and rep they get etc will be the answer.

Because of one or two scammers you can not deny benefits to all valued contributors.:eek:

Aye, but at least they are banned in other forums, but here we are not even allowed to give feedback about the scammers, you are taking a risk. So, not many will know that they are dealing with a potential scammer if there is no feedback system.

May be this will work only if some filters are applied to promote your service.

1) You should be registered for certain days here & certain amount of installs & also with a proper feedback system.

Admins decision is final & i am out of here. :p
