Anything For Attachment URL Re-Writes?

Hi All,

Just wondering if there is anything (plugin or code change wise) that could mass change attachment URLs, and insert "thread title" instead or something similar.

The only solution I know of is VBSeo but it has a bad rep, and I really don't want to touch it.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?

The current VBulletin 4 has been finished now, and I hate the way attachment links are made.
Its extremely bad for SEO, I almost get the feeling VBseo is just an upsell for VB.

When did THAT happen? Of all the things I've purchased in my life (pretzels, the Matt Lesko book, etc) I consider it to be one of the single greatest purchases of my life. It may not be perfect for everyone all the time, but if were you I'd investigate your sources a bit more as it's only been good to me.

That's exactly what it is, but it sure seems like a different company. It's worth it to me to add no-follow tags to all necessary links with a simple button click.

With that said, I'm not sure if vbSEO deals with attachment URLs. The attachment system in vbulletin is a bit "odd" anyway and may not be the kind of thing that can be easily manipulated. Not sure.

Hi Brandon,

I've heard more bad than good countless times now!

The biggest complaints being -
1.) VBSeo uses far too many resources
2.) VBSeo conflicts with alot of plugins
3.) VBSeo has terrible support when things go wrong

If you haven't seen all the terrible reviews then I think you should start looking. I've seen so many people having hassle installing it, and then jumping through hoops to uninstall it.

The money side of it is not a problem for me, its just my forum runs really good now and I don't want something like VBSeo messing it up.

I have seen it does rewrite attachment URLs but then again it doesn't add in alt text or image descriptions, so $150 for just the URL rewrites. I was considering buying it and just using the attachment rewrite function.
