Really bizarre editing problem.

Since I moved my forum to a VPS there have been some very strange things happening. The current one that has me stumped is a problem with editing posts.

This happens on some posts by some people, it is intermittent. What happens is this:

Somebody creates a post in the thread. Everything works fine.
They decide to edit the post but when they click on edit the edit box appears but it is blank, the post is not there, no text at all. If you cancel out of the edit the original post is still there so nothing has actually disappeared it simply doesn't show in the edit box.

Remember, this only happens sometimes to some posts. It can happen in any sub forum.

Anyone got any ideas?

This has me stumped, I'd really appreciate your thoughts on this one.

What version of PHP on the server? And under the PHPInfo page, what version of PCRE is installed?

PHP Vers. 5.4.9

PCRE Vers. 8.21 2011-12-12

This is due to a bug in PCRE version 8.21 - http://bugs.exim.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1187. You will need to contact your host and have them downgrade to PCRE version 8.20. Or, alternately, if you have server access, you may see this thread about steps to take - http://forums.cpanel.net/f5/need-dow...-a-257991.html

OK, great, thanks for that.
