If spam is so bad, why does google allow it?
 

We all know google is the almighty being on the internet. What google says...goes...plain and simple. So can someone explain to me how the almighty google doesn't know who is spamming?....especially when the spammers use Gmail.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but this seems way too convenient.

I have the best spam mods installed, but I still spend an hour a day deleting accounts and banning IP's.

This is getting ridiculous.

Can there be any advantage to increase ranking by editing the spam post with your site address? Something just doesn't make sense about this...and I truly believe google itself is benefiting from the spam.

What's even a little more ironic...google won't let me use certain passwords, but "googlesucks" works fine.

Use cloudflare, I do and for $20 US a month its great. blocks tens of thousands of malicious and spammer ips per month with no config.

what happens is that as you get their ips blocked with clourflare the hackers/spammers after a while stop trying because that ip will be blocked across the entire cloudflare network. My first month had over 100,000 firewall hits, mostly china. The past 30 days I have only seen about 12, 000 hits.

I'm not trying to discriminate, but is there any way to block IP's from entire countries? My site doesn't have anything the Chinese would be interested in anyway.

Is there a list of which IP's are assigned to a certain country or region?

Scroll to the bottom, choose the country you wish to block and choose Deny for prefix. Download the zip and extract the txt file. Copy paste the contents into your .htaccess file on your sever.

Hay guys.
But I to have seen the increase in Spam over the last 3 months or so. It's all from China. So last night I finally just got fed up with them and banned the hole Asian network I had a problem with. Here is all of the IP address range I banned. It's useless to try to contact them. They were filling up 4 pages of who's on line pages. The bad part it they are people not just bots so there hard to stop. I would ban one and they would turn around and make another user name and email and try to post. But everything would get put in moderation because of the amount of links. The best part is they give you there rang on there web page.

I've been using the Question & Answer Verification option for years, and it's extremely rare for a spammer to get through. When one does, I change the question, and I'm usually spam free for 6+ months.

This obviously works better when you know that "all" of your members speak the same language.

They still hammer my site though. Something like 50% of my hits are on the registration page, with china and russia being the worst offenders.
