Then there is your problem - the emails are waiting to be sent. You may want to increase AdminCP > Settings > Options > Email Options > Number of Emails to Send Per Batch. The default is 10, which is pretty small. You may want to ask your host how many emails per hour/day you are allowed to send out and adjust that number. (The Scheduled Task runs every 10 minutes by default.)

It has to send all the emails in the queue before it gets to any email that you created today. You need to clear that queue.

Do you have the Scheduled Task "Process E-Mail Queue" and is it set to run the default every 10 minutes? Are all the "Next Time" dates for the tasks in the future? Are you using a default style on your site?

Try creating a new style with no parent and see if it resolves the issue.
