News pro is a pretty popular news posting script, very capable of having addons added.

Is a huge list of addons, other than the official addons.

Is there a way to incoporate it with vbulletin so users can post comments to news ?

there's already a weblog system (another thread) that would do the same thing. Dunno about the functionality of the script though.

bringing this back to life,

ive just finished work on an early version of integration between newspro and vb. its actually a newspro hack, and doesnt modify any vb code whatsoever, but i was wondering if there was still interest in this. i can clean up the code to a point where it might be legable to other people, and maybe add a few options to the newspro Advanced Settings page.

still, in its current state it works quite well, and only has a few rules you have to stick to:
[*]username for newspro must be username for vb[*]you must be logged into the vb (it grabs your cookie for your password

it also has its share of weirdness, seeing as its probably the cheapest excuse for a hack ive ever conceived. but what the hell, eh - it works.

if you'd like to see the outcome, go to my board ( http://www.tribalwar.com/forums/ ) and check any thread marked with a News: prefix. you can check it with the main page (naturally located at http://www.tribalwar.com/ ) and you'll get the idea.

if theres only 1 or 2 people that'd like to see it i probably wont bother, because cleaning up *my* code is an excersise in futility for the most part :)

anyways, i guess we'll see.

I'd really appreciate it if you release this hack. I think it will also be useful for other people because newspro is widely used and it's comments system (kTalk) is poorly written and hadn't been updated for a long time. But it should display a link to the vBulletin thread created for comments on the main page of your site.
(I hope I could explain what I want)

Thanks

it should, but i'd have to start dicking with DBI and then go back and re-edit the news post.
